Four years after the announcement, Black Myth: Wukong Critics have finally reviewed the third-person action RPG ahead of its August 20 release. The general consensus seems to be that while the upcoming game looks great and has some cool boss designs, it’s flawed, too simple, and has repetitive combat.
Black Myth: Wukong It was first announced in 2020 via a brief but impressive gameplay trailer. Since then, due to its Smooth combat and gorgeous visuals. However, one IGN 2023 report Some senior figures at Game Science, the studio behind the game, allegedly participated in horrific online discussions about women and fostered a toxic culture within the studio.
The reports haven’t stopped yet Black Myth: Wukong Becoming one of the most anticipated PS5 games of 2024. Strangely, there is no exit (my city include) Received the console version of the game, so all reviews are of the PC version. This seems like a potential red flag to me, but we’ll have to wait and see how the PS5 performs once people can get their hands on it.
Currently, here are what other critics and writers have to say aboutt Black Myth: Wukong On a computer:
Black Myth: Wukong is a fantastic video game and an amazing achievement for an independent studio. like P’s lie last year and Nioh 2 before it, Black Myth: Wukong is a great example of how to weave soul-like elements into something fresh and original. It’s gorgeous to look at, has the best music of any game so far this year, and is performed with such confidence and panache that it’s hard to fault it.
Wukong is one of the most fun action RPGs I’ve ever played because of its love for the world and its characters, and further, its apparent desire for me to love them too. It worked: intense combat aside, I wanted to keep working my way through each area to meet another strange little creature, perform a mysterious mission, or get jumped by another animal that had learned MMA. In a series of games about fallen kings and sad dragons, it’s enjoyable to play a game that doesn’t indulge in somber action, where the best solution to the toughest battles is to use as many interesting ones as possible ability.
During this year there were huge Elden Ring: Shadow of the Eldtree DLC, I never thought I’d play a game that took such a completely different direction but reached similar heights, even if it lacked the scale and build complexity of FromSoftware’s masterpiece.
Wukong is its own beast, and if it has to be labeled something like a soul, then I think we’re going to have to come up with a new definition. There’s nothing better than this.
Do I feel like the game isn’t over yet? In the grand scheme of things, yes, but at least for the story, no. I was satisfied with how the story ended…but I couldn’t shake the multiple frustrations that lingered throughout the journey.
As I’ve said throughout this review, it’s frustrating to have such a game filled with highs and lows. I can look The game gets a score of 10/10 at points, but unfortunately it’s held back by multiple questionable level design and game design choices as well as a plethora of performance issues and bugs. Black Myth: Wukong It’s a beautiful, melancholy, compelling story that needs to be lived – you just have to feel your way through a sea of problems to enjoy it.
Black Myth: Wukong It’s an amazing game, but it lacks exploration, and most of the combat is just okay. It’s just a little bland, and now that I’m done playing it, I don’t want to play it anymore.
As GameScience’s first action game, Black Myth: Wukong Although there were some major technical flaws and localization issues that may have caused some frustration upon release, overall it was a huge success.
The combat was brilliant and tested my skills thanks to the game’s perfect balance of careful resource management and lightning-fast twitch reflexes ring of fire There has been, although it’s a more traditional action game than FromSoftware’s style. Not only that, but there are tons of exciting boss battles, a variety of enemies, and the world they inhabit is an absolute visual and auditory delight.
Its story has its moments, but relies a little too much on prior knowledge of the events of Journey to the West, and it could really use a map to match its rewarding exploration with the intensity of its combat. In other words, its advantage lies not only in sticking to the end, but also in making Black Myth: Wukong It’s a great action game, and it could be even better if GameScience can iron out the bugs.
i absolutely love Black Myth: Wukong The first two chapters, but recurring annoyances and some lengthy sections started to tire me out about halfway through. The combat delivers on the experience, the story is interesting, albeit too fragmented to keep me on the edge of my seat, and the world is a fantastic place.
It’s exciting to see such a rich setting, largely unexplored in gaming, treated with clear love and care by an action RPG of this scale. Despite some setbacks, Black Myth: Wukong It feels great, and the ending is powerful – so powerful that I almost wanted to try New Game Plus, if only to find out more of what I’d missed.
Black Myth: Wukong Definitely not undead. What I didn’t expect was that this was essentially one long boss rush. It’s not uncommon to go from one boss fight to another, and in these carefully choreographed battles, Black Myth: Wukong Sparkling. The in-between moments, however, are less intense and sometimes devolve into aimless tedium. But its satisfying combat and unique boss fight variety largely overcome these flaws.
Black Myth: Wukong This is a game that eschews the Souls-like label, but it’s clearly aimed at Souls-like players. It’s far from the best game in the genre, but it’s not the worst either dark souls‘Footsteps.
If you’re looking for a standard Souls-like experience mixed with some thrilling boss encounters and basic level design thrown in, you’ll be better off than if you were expecting it to play like a traditional role-playing action game.
Black Myth: Wukong The first playthrough lasts around 30 hours, and there’s plenty of side content to check out, but many will tire of the limited combat options long before reaching the dizzying but equally infuriating final boss fight.
