My friends, what a strange timeline we live in. According to multiple sources, the next Xbox exclusive game will be coming to PlayStation, joining the likes of Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves.
The message comes from the extremely reliable Shinobi602. In reply to a user on ResetEra who asked when the next round of ported games would be coming, Shinobi replied: “What are you doing next week?”
The ninja continued: “[I don’t know] about many [games]. But at least it’s a big game,” one person responded to speculation that Killer Instinct would be one of “many” games.
Of course, Gamescom 2024 takes place next week, so the timing seems right for a big event.
Speculation began to swirl about what the game might be, with many giving up on Forza Horizon 5. gif that says “feliz cinco de mayo”. This Mexican reference fueled the idea that Horizon 5 would be a game set in Mexico.
Since eXtas1s’ tweet attracted so much attention, he discussed the topic further. He clarified that, yes, Forza Horizon 5 is coming to PlayStation, and not “for too long.” He continued: “Announcement? Whether it’s this week, next week or whatever, it’s coming to PS5 in the next few months, as confirmed in my GIF and as many colleagues have confirmed .
His review has been translated into English, so keep in mind that it may not be 100% accurate.
It’s also worth remembering that while eXtas1s is very reliable across all aspects of Game Pass, outside of specific themes he tends to miss as often as he hits.
However, Windows Central’s Jez Corden said, “My sources indicate that Forza won’t be releasing on PlayStation next week.” He went on to say that he couldn’t confirm “what games, if any, will be announced as ports next week ”
At the same time, Mike Straw of Insider Gaming said that they have also heard that “Forza Horizon 5” is one of the games planned to be launched on the PlayStation, but cannot confirm the specific time.
There has also been a previous leak from Amazon.co.uk, which briefly listed Forza Horizon 5 for PlayStation 5 with a release date of September 27, 2024. Includes Nintendo Switch. However, this is most likely the result of unreliable search engines and Amazon errors.
Given the mixed signals from these insiders, it seems unlikely that Forza Horizon 5 will be coming to Sony machines anytime soon, but Horizon 5 isn’t next week’s big announcement. So what could it be? Personally, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is an upcoming Indiana Jones game in order to maximize the money Xbox can make from the license.
Bringing Forza Horizon 5 to PlayStation would be a big step for Xbox, as the Forza brand is as fundamental to Xbox as Gears of War. Seeing the Forza title on a Sony console almost makes you feel like the Xbox has failed, a surrender.
