New films from Steve McQueen, Sean Baker, Edward Berger and Gia Coppola will get red carpet treatment at the 20th Zurich Film Festival as part of ZFF’s grand lineup.
Steve McQueen BlitzkriegThe film starring Saoirse Ronan and Harris Dickinson will have its international premiere in Zurich, kicking off the 2024 BFI London Film Festival (LFF). Berger’s highly anticipated secret meetingis a Vatican conspiracy thriller starring Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci and John Lithgow, and the sequel to the German director’s multiple Oscar-winning Everything is silent on the Western Frontfollowing Toronto and San Sebastian, will be screened at ZFF. and Baker Palme d’Or winner Anora A stellar performance starring Mikey Madison as a Brighton Beach sex worker who becomes romantically involved with the son of a Russian oligarch is heading to the Swiss Film Festival after screening at TIFF .
Senkwaterman Nick namethe third installment in the hit German comedy series based on the French feature film name (2012), will have its world premiere in Zurich.
Other high-profile works in this year’s Zurich gala lineup include a work by Gia Coppola the last showgirlPamela Anderson stars as a Las Vegas showgirl forced to plan her future after her long-running show is abruptly canceled; directed by Jesse Eisenberg real painco-starring Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin; Josh Margolin’s old man action drama selma Starring Joan Squibb; and Nick Hamm’s William TellAn action-packed retelling of the Swiss folktale starring Claes Bang as the legendary mountain marksman.
The ZFF gala program also includes several dramas based on real life, including Tim Fehlbaum’s historical thriller September 5about the terrorist attacks on the 1972 Munich Olympics, starring Peter Sarsgaard, John Magaro and Ben Chaplin; Michael Krummacher traitorthe story of the first Swiss to be sentenced to death for treason; and Icíar Bollaín’s I’m NevenkaInspired by Spanish economist Nevenka Fernández, the first woman to successfully convict a Spanish politician of sexual harassment in the workplace.
Zurich will announce its full 2024 lineup on September 19.
