Winsome Sinclair, casting director, helps bring in actors Wait to exhale, Amistad, precious, best man Director Spike Lee’s dozen films have also died. She is 58 years old.
Sinclair died Monday at Hospice of Long Island after a long battle with colon cancer, publicist Clorissa Wright-Thomas said hollywood reporter. Her family was at her bedside.
The native New Yorker founded global casting firm Winsome Sinclair and Associates in New York in 1996 before moving operations to Atlanta in 2014 amid the city’s production boom.
Sinclair also cast extras for the John Singleton-directed film higher education (1995), 2 Fast and Furious 2 (2003) and kidnapping (2011), Malcolm D. Lee-Helmed best man (1999) and Barber Shop: Next Cut (2016) and directed by Dee Rees untouchable (2011) and bessie (2015).

Winsome GM Sinclair was born in Jamaica on October 27, 1965 and grew up on Long Island. She graduated from Uniondale High School and Florida A&M University before entering the industry.
Her first casting director credit came with Hype Williams abdomen (1998), starring Nas and DMX.
Sinclair’s casting resume includes films cadillac records (2008), spark (2012), biopic of Tupac Shakur All eyes are on me (2017) and pee from now on (2018) and BET series be mary jane.
She has also produced a number of films including Maynarda 2017 documentary about Atlanta’s first black mayor, Maynard Jackson Jr.
In 2017, Sinclair adopted blood brothers Micah, now 10, and Kairo, now 8, who inspired her 2020 book: you are my son shine. They were preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Shirley; her brothers Nick, Mark, Barry and Kirk; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Producer and publicist Cassandra Butcher wrote on Instagram that Sinclair “brought light to everyone she met and had a unique ability to see people’s more of themselves”. “She was a true fan of life and culture, and her passion for the arts and love of family and community will continue to inspire those who knew her.
