The wait for the next generation of Nintendo consoles continues.
Nintendo’s oft-rumored successor to the Switch (let’s call it “Switch 2” for convenience) may not launch in early 2025 as many hope. Regardless, GamesIndustry.biz head Chris Dring said on the site’s podcast (spotted by VGC ) that the developer doesn’t expect the Switch 2 to launch before the end of Nintendo’s fiscal year. In case you’re wondering, Nintendo’s fiscal year ends on March 31, 2025, so April 1 is earliest Based on Dring’s comments, we could see a Switch 2.
We finally know when Stray will be coming to Nintendo Switch, but is pre-order already available?
“Actually, [developers Dring has spoken to have] Was told not to count on it [current] “Fiscal year,” Deering said. “A lot of people I’ve spoken to are hoping it will be released in April or May, or early next year, rather than later.”
Mix and match speed of light
To be clear, calling it a “delay” isn’t accurate, as Nintendo never announced a release date. In fact, Nintendo didn’t release the console at all. The biggest guarantee it gives us is will It will be announced this fiscal year. For comparison’s sake, the Switch was released in October 2016 and launched in early March 2017. News about Switch 2 won’t be available until the end of this year at the earliest.
Of course, no one outside of Nintendo’s offices knows about the company’s plans, so this could be completely wrong. However, the company just recently showed off a slew of OG Switch games that look very exciting (including Metroid 4), some with release dates in 2025. In other words, Switch owners will have a lot to consider before buying a new machine.
