With this latest update, the calling UI will look more like the conferencing interface, and call controls will become easier to use. Call messaging is now supported, so you can share links and rude comments while on mute if you want. Emoji reactions will also be available in group calls, you’ll be able to stack effects like backgrounds and filters, and screen sharing will be an in-call option.
We’re no longer as excited about showing up on calls as we were in 2020. The company also claims that you will be able to easily switch calls from your PC to your Android phone or tablet.
The update is another step in what has been a slow and inconsistent rollout for Duo and Meet combos. New versions are being rolled out slowly, and everyone in your call will need to be running an updated version of the app to use the new features. It may take a minute for you to see these new features implemented.
