Its mixture is ANIMAL CROSSINGdaily tasks, recruitment, relationship maintenance and HadesRoguelike design and fast-paced combat make for an engaging Evil Within adventure. In celebration of its second anniversary, you can get it, along with all the DLC released since launch, at an especially cheap price.

Get lost in its approachable system– such as managing which cultists are mining, tending crops, spreading the good word of the Lamb – and after 48 hours, you’ll be fully finished with the game. It’s one of the smoothest gaming experiences I’ve played in years, and being able to complete it in about 20 hours is a godsend.

It feels uncomfortable the first time you swing your ax at an enemy, but soon you start to feel almost natural about decapitating heretics. You’re responsible for feeding your cultists, and if the food happens to run out, you can feed them your own feces or even the corpses that eventually start to pile up.
It’s all a bit scary, but the truth is lamb worshipThe art style belittles the subject matter, conveying how willing we are to endure atrocities if the trappings of them satisfy our emotions and needs. In a way, it’s the most nakedly honest simulator ever created, because why would we play these games if not for the complete and sometimes terrifying control?
If the base game wasn’t enough, Massive Monster has been pushing this dark fantasy even further over the past two years. Since then, it’s added more story to the game, new costumes and forms for followers, expanded weapons, and deeper mechanics like the Guilty System. Oh, and they also increase breeding.
