Founder of James Wan saw and spiritualism horror franchise, is developing a new version of the classic Universal monster property and is in early talks to direct the feature project.
The move comes as Wan and his collaborators approached Universal Pictures with a remake of the 1954 monster classic. A writer will now be hired to work with Wan on the script.
This is Wan’s first project as a director following the merger of his company’s production banner Atomic Monster with Blumhouse. Wan has been underwater in DC superhero movies over the past few years Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom And is always looking to get back to his horror roots in some way.
Wan will serve as producer biologywhile Atomic Monster’s Michael Cryer and Judson Scott serve as executive producers.

Jay Polidoro, executive vice president of production and development, will oversee the project for Universal Pictures.
