A good horror IP can’t be kept around for long, as the Halloween movie series is returning in the form of two new games. The new projects (one of which is being developed in Unreal Engine 5) will be produced by original Halloween director John Carpenter, and both projects are produced by Boss Team, the studio behind the recently launched Evil Dead Studio Games for Evil Dead: The Video.
“As a huge gamer myself, I’m excited to bring Michael Myers back to life in this game and I hope it scares the crap out of you,” Carpenter told IGN, adding that he would be “intimately involved” This game. In addition to this, Boss Studios said players will be able to “relive” moments from the movie and play as classic characters.
Recently, the classic horror film series has been the source material behind a number of asymmetrical horror games, with notable examples being Friday the 13th, The Evil Dead, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The first video game, Halloween, was released on the Atari system in 1983, and since then the film series’ iconic killer, Michael Myers, has appeared as a DLC character in Dead by Daylight and Call of Duty: Ghost” and other games.
Neither Halloween game has a release date yet, and development is said to be still in the early stages. At the same time, the famous gamer John Carpenter also participated in another video game project “Toxic Commando”, which is a team-based shooting game set in an original world created by the famous writer and director.
