A slew of new rides and attractions were announced at the Disney Parks panel at D23, with California Adventure’s Marvel’s Avengers campus finally getting two much-needed attractions.
Disney Experience Chairman Josh Damaro It was announced that construction on these new attractions will begin next year, including Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flying Laboratory.
Avengers: Infinity Defense will launch first, and it will center on the technology that allows the Avengers to jump between worlds. The technology has gone missing and King Thanos is using it to wreak havoc.
Recruits on the ride will travel with various Marvel heroes to iconic locations such as Asgard, Wakanda and New York City, while guests may find themselves face to face with King Thanos.
Next attraction, Stark Flying Laboratory, will be seen Robert Downey Jr. Tony Stark/Iron Man character. Yes, he’ll be back again before playing Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
In this journey, Tony Stark embarks on a mission for eager recruits, where you’ll sit in a two-person pod and deploy to a testing station. A robotic arm then grabs your pod and begins spinning you around in a simulated flight.
In addition, Shanghai Disneyland will introduce a new Spider-Man roller coaster, and Hong Kong Disneyland’s Stark Expo will feature an attraction featuring Spider-Man, an intern at Stark Industries.
