Even though we’ve ostensibly become accustomed to the trend of light novels and their adaptations revealing the entire premise and half of the plot in the title, it still feels like this novel is determined to cram as many buzzwords into it as possible. we have a Princess who is Reincarnationtwo obviously catnip-filled terms, and then add her Cross-dressing For good measure. When we discovered the fact that she wasn’t Find a fiancéthe trap has been set, and the bait has indeed been set. This will be attractive to some readers, but may immediately turn off interest for others.
The truth of the matter lies somewhere in between. Alicia, the eponymous princess, cross-dresses to get into a magic academy—but only because it’s her mother’s rule. This was because Alicia opposed the marriage arranged for her by her mother to a prince from a neighboring country. While Fernand is extremely gifted with magic, he is also rumored to be ugly and repulsive, and Alicia has zero interest in tying herself to him. Her mother’s solution? Send Alicia to school and let her choose from four other potential fiancés, but be aware that the school is only for boys and Alicia must dress up in disguise to attend. Once there, Alicia suffers from a severe migraine, which makes her realize that this isn’t her first time, and in her previous life in Japan, she was a fan of a series of movies. BL Novel… As expected, she is now living it.
According to Reyes, Alicia wasn’t excited because she felt like she was interrupting the story. A further complication is Lucius, a very handsome new “character” who moves in and quickly discovers Alicia’s secret. To force him to keep it, Alicia agreed to make out and increasingly heavier strokes, saying she would do anything but have penetrative sex with him. Over time, Alicia finds herself falling in love with Lucious, and if you haven’t figured out his identity yet, I’d be shocked. She also fails to notice that all of her potential fiancés like her, but that’s pretty typical for this type of story.
As you might have guessed, this single volume doesn’t have much to offer. That’s not a condemnation of the book, as it delivers on its promise of being a sizzling otherworldly love story. However, Alicia and Lucius may have started, but by the time we join the story, they have trouble keeping their hands on each other, despite Alicia’s frequent protests, as the genre demands. The lively parts were a little affected due to the fact that the artist Shiina Akino Doesn’t seem entirely sure how the breasts attach to the torso, often pulling them too far apart to look like they’re glued to the body rather than part of it. Since Shiina mentioned that they prefer to draw BLit might be a matter of not being used to drawing nude female upper bodies, otherwise the art is pretty good. Alicia didn’t try to hide her long hair under an unlikely wig like many drag divas do. The way Shiina ties her hair back makes her look masculine enough, and we see a variety of male hair lengths in the book that feel more natural than usual. The school uniforms also don’t look like modern Japanese clothing, taking on a mid-19th century style, which helps with story immersion. There’s still an overly powerful student council, but it’s easily overlooked since the plot is more focused on the romance than the school aspect.
The biggest flaw here is that the story would work better if it were split into two volumes. We know enough about what’s going on and who the characters are (or at least who Alicia and Lucius are), but not enough space to tell the story in its entirety. Flashbacks can only do so much, and we feel like this really could have been so much more than it is now. Whether this is a matter of an adaptation or the original light novel, I can’t say, but even if the original novel is only one volume long, the manga needs more space to spread its wings. Still, it’s nice to see a publisher offering sizzling romance content to its target audience of adult women, and it’s equally positive that tokyo popThe LoveLove line is from BLeven though this is still a small part of this release.
This reincarnated cross-dressing princess won’t be looking for a fiancé anymore A “perfect” title. It lets you know what you’re going to get when you open the book and deliver it. It might not be the best isekai romance, but it’s also a great way to relax with beautiful people from another world.
