Marvel Animation had a presentation at the Disney D23 Expo where they shared previews of several upcoming animated shows, one of which I’m super excited about Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
They’ve shared a few new images from the series as well as some really fun shots! I’ve shared the images below, but the clip hasn’t been posted online yet.
I will say I like the animation style, inspired by Steve Ditko Comic art style.
The shared clip features Peter Parker being sent to school by his Aunt May before he became Spider-Man.
As he gets out of the car, a portal appears in the sky and a Venom-like creature falls out and attacks. Doctor Strange also enters the portal and fights the creature as Peter and May watch in horror.
After Strange captures it and brings it back through the portal, a spider falls from the portal and lands on Peter, who is talking to a girl. At this time, the spider bit him and he fainted. That’s the beginning of this version of Spider-Man.
It was also revealed in this version of the story that Norman Osborn was Peter’s mentor. In a way, he behaves the same way Alfred does towards Batman, which is interesting.
In the second clip, Spider-Man is fighting several bad guys who are wreaking havoc on the streets. He wears an early version of the Spider-Man costume, with his web-devices connected via hoses to a web-making system strapped to his waste.
While Peter fights, Norman is guiding him through the process and helping him with advice on how to handle the situation.
A previously revealed plot synopsis states that the show takes place before 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, but with one obvious key difference. “Instead of returning to his apartment to meet Tony Stark, Norman Osborn was chatting with his Aunt May when he walked in the door.
“Just as meeting Tony thrust Peter into a bigger spotlight than a kid needs, Peter having Norman as his mentor sends his life into an unexpected trajectory that connects him with the rest of the Marvel Universe. Many unexpected characters collide.
Marvel Animation Supervisor, Brad WinderbaumSpeaking about the series, he said: “I mean, Neighborhood Spider-Man is awesome, to say the least. I think it’s really going to surprise people. It’s a lot like the Steve Ditko comics. Editing of the times.
He went on to explain: “Peter Parker was in high school just trying to work hard and take care of his aunt, be completely broke and have to be a superhero.
“That’s essentially what Spider-Man is, and what Jeff Trammell, the show’s creator, has done, and I think people are going to love it, is he’s built this ensemble of characters around Peter that you’re going to fall in love with.”
He added: “Again, because it’s a long-form story, when the stakes were raised in the first season and these relationships were brewing and things felt really tragic and dangerous and really unbelievable. So, I loved that. programme.
This sounds really cool and I’m looking forward to seeing how this project turns out.
The series’ voice actors include hudson thames (What if…?) as Peter Parker, Eugene Byrd (Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, 8 miles) as Lonnie Lincoln, Grace Song (joke) plays Nicole Nin, Hugh Dancy (hannibal) as Otto Octavius, Kari Wallgren (FLCL, Rick and Morty) as Aunt May, and Zeno Robinson (My Hero Academia, Pokémon Master’s Journey: The Series) as Harry Osborn. it also includes Charlie Cox Starring Matt Murdock/Daredevil Paul Tompkins Starring Bentley Whitman/The Wizard.
Judging from the current situation, this drama will definitely be exciting!
