Delta Force: Eagle is currently in free alpha testing on PC via Steam and its own launcher. Team Jade’s upcoming free-to-play shooter features multiple multiplayer modes, as well as a single-player campaign based on the classic film Black Hawk Down.
Anyone can currently request access to the Alpha version, which includes Dangerous Ops and Havoc War modes.
It’s unclear when the alpha test will actually end, as that information doesn’t appear on the official website or in the FAQ. But what we do know is that the test performed very well on Steam.
According to SteamDB statistics, the test reached a peak of 20,524 simultaneous online users on August 8.
As I write this, 11,439 people are playing the game.
Those are some impressive numbers. Perhaps more impressively, they don’t include people playing through the game’s official launcher.
While this isn’t a direct comparison, or even a very fair comparison, I can’t help but think of how well Concord’s public beta went a few weeks ago. Although anyone can join in, Sony’s first-party live shooter only attracted 2,388 simultaneous online players. This means that “Delta Force: Eagle” has attracted 10 times the number of players on Steam.
As usual in situations like this, it’s hard to gauge how people feel about the game, as social media posts range from “This is the worst thing since COVID-19” to “This is the worst thing since garlic bread.” The best thing ever.”
What I can tell you is that it’s enough to bring FRANKIEonPC back. He hasn’t released a gameplay video in nine months, choosing instead to focus on two entertaining mini-documentaries. But for whatever reason, Delta Force brought him back into the fold.
Personally, I completely forgot that the alpha was happening and didn’t ask for access. Looks like I need to fix this and see what’s going on.
Have you ever played it? If so, please tell me what you think. Does it have a future?
