director Zack Snyder Talking about wanting to jump back into his Army of the Undead universe and producing a new movie, but it looks like he won’t get the chance as Netflix has reportedly canceled the franchise.
The Wrap notes that Snyder had ambitious plans for the franchise, with several sequels and spin-offs in the works, including an animated series, but all of those projects have been canceled.
Deborah Snyder pointed out in an interview Army of the Undead “It’s not completely dead,” as Six Flags is launching themed experiences this Halloween. “It’s going to be a really cool experience,” she said of it.
But in terms of more movies and shows, don’t expect Netflix to make more movies and shows. I think Rebel Moon will be the next character to be axed because those movies were so bad. I would be surprised if they continued this sci-fi series.
In a previous interview, Snyder talked about wanting to re-enter Army of the Undeadsaid: “I keep telling Netflix we need to keep doing more [‘Army of the Dead’] They kept encouraging me to make more Moon Rebel movies.
He continued: “But I feel like this ‘Army’ universe is really rich and interesting, and zombies never get old, so it was a no-brainer for me.”
Netflix apparently sees things differently.
Zack Snyder is a great director who knows how to deliver great visuals, but he needs to hire strong writers to help create his story and script.
