Deadpool and Wolverine Full of surprises. In addition to Blake Lively making her Marvel debut as Ms. Deadpool, another unexpected female superhero also makes a cameo: Elektra.
Now that most spoilers have been revealed almost two weeks after the film’s release, Jennifer Garner has shared how she came to reprise her role for the first time in 19 years. In a post on Instagram, she recalled working on Adam Project and Deadpool and Wolverine Directors Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds commented, “They showed each other expressions that conveyed ideas, 20 pages of dialogue, nuclear codes — there was a crazy thing between them. Art is a godsend.
“Other than trying to convince my kids’ preschool friends that I was actually a ninja, I haven’t been around Erica’s sais since 2004; I’m healthy, but not a Marvel fit,” Garner explains. She mentioned that she and her “OG” stunt double Shauna Duggins “stepped up our training” to prepare. They train once a day with Beth Nicely, attend boxing classes with Flvco Pichardo three times a week, and participate in “lots and lots” of workouts led by Peloton’s Becs Gentry.
Garner also thanked Levy and Reynolds for bringing Erica back. “I don’t know that Erica and I need an ending, but Sean and Ryan do. They are gifted in so many ways, but the most important thing is seeing and uplifting the people around them.” The actress also said that she and Ryan Duggins, along with the other superhero actors in the movie: Hugh Jackman, Dafne Keen, Channing Tatuto and Wesley Snipes, “were in heaven on set.”
She accompanied her movie message with a behind-the-scenes video that gave us a glimpse into the extensive training she underwent to be Erica again, from lifting weights to trampoline jumping.
Garner made his debut as a hero in 2003 DaredevilStarring alongside ex-husband Ben Affleck. Two years later, her character was given an independent film. Elektra It ultimately flopped at the box office, with critics praising Garner’s performance but criticizing the poor writing.
