Chill B Games’ latest game—Shaolin: Wu-Tang Clan Board Game—brings the world of hip-hop into game night.
“The Wu-Tang Clan are often described as the Rolling Stones or Beatles of hip-hop,” said Chill B Games co-founder and Shaolin Temple designer Tiffany Campolongo. “While there are board games themed after these classic rock bands, no board game to date has explored the legacy of the hip-hop group.”
Shaolin combines Wu-Tang Clan trivia with combat mechanics. Throughout the game, players play the role of students practicing in the 35 secret rooms of the Shaolin Temple, with the goal of building the 36th Shaolin Temple. The game is inspired by Room 36 of Shaolin Temple, The source of inspiration for the Wu-Tang Clan.
Players can earn butter by answering Wu-Tang trivia questions – coins that can be exchanged for fighting styles. When they fight in the temple, they can also win fighting styles through duels. The game includes easy, medium, and hard trivia modes that players can mix and match to make the game accessible to all players.
“By bringing this game to market, we hope to establish the board game as a medium for telling the stories of hip-hop artists and help preserve the legacy of hip-hop for the next 50 years,” said Campolongo.
Shaolin Temple is available now at chillbgames.com for $125.
