New trailer for The Last of Us Season 2 shows off footage from HBO’s upcoming series – but blink and you’ll miss Abby

Good news for TV lovers! We got a new clip from The Last of Us Season 2 through the HBO MAX quick-cut trailer. The trailer offers a comprehensive look at all the shows and series coming to the video-on-demand service, and ends its presentation with a highlight reel of Joel and Ellie’s future adventures.

For about 20 seconds, we see Joel seemingly sitting across from a therapist, multiple shots of Ellie being coerced (as you’d expect), some new characters, and a troubled Tommy. Not many spoilers, but obviously those who have played the game may find a few nods here and there.

Interestingly, we don’t see much of Abby in this trailer. She was a major character in the second game, and with Kaitlyn Dever confirmed for the role, perhaps her appearance is a last-minute one for those unfamiliar with the source material Sting… Playing the first game finds her briefly trapped under a fence.

There are some pretty big shoes to fill this season. Not only was it an adaptation of a game that was both beloved by fans and controversial among some segments of the player base, it was also a breakout television success. The first season of HBO Max’s The Last of Us dominated the ratings in multiple territories, even pushing the game back up the rankings due to its success. The bosses at HBO are definitely hoping that Season 2 can live up to this level of performance.
