As we approach the final months of 2024, Xbox has graciously alleviated some of the mounting pressure by delaying Reveal until early next year. Avowed is now set to launch on February 18, 2025.
While it’s a shame that we’ll have to wait a little longer to play Obsidian Entertainment’s action RPG, it does mean that the already crowded fall lineup of games will be easier to manage and save money on. Avowed won’t be competing against the likes of STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl, Metaphor: Refantazio, Dragon Age: Veiled Keeper, and Assassin’s Creed: Shadows this holiday season, but will instead be competing in ( Launching (currently) early 2025 (currently).
So many games coming! Therefore, we are moving Avowed to February 18, 2025 to give players’ backlog some breathing room.
Stay tuned for more games from Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda and Xbox Game Studios at Gamescom, including our August 23rd livestream to watch Avowed:… pic.twitter.com/3RnyVwlHRa— Xbox (@Xbox) August 2, 2024
In news of the postponement, Xbox said more details about the company’s titles – which include games from Activision, Blizzard and Bethesda – will be announced during Gamescom. “Avowed” will also be the main focus of Xbox’s planned live broadcast on August 23, where we will see more of the upcoming action RPG.
So far, Avowed looks a lot like Obsidian’s The Outer Worlds, albeit more fantasy than science fiction. The game can be played in first or third person, features recruitable NPCs and choice-driven dialogue, and incorporates melee weapons, firearms, and magic into combat. The game will launch on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
