    82% of adults have spent money on free games

    A newly released report says that most adults in the United States play some kind of video game. The study also found that most of them spent real money on in-app purchases for free games.

    It is reported Game Industry Network July 18, Comscore’s State of Gaming report is out And reveals some interesting data about American gamers and how they interact with the gaming industry. The report, done in partnership with in-game advertising platform Anzu, shows that many people who play games are also willing to spend money on microtransactions.

    According to Comscore, 62% of adults over 18 have “played games.” Of those, 49% are Millennials and 16% are Gen Z or Generation Zoom. The report further states that 82% of adults who play video games spent money on in-app purchases in the last year. Depending on who you are, that last sentence either strikes fear into your heart or makes you excited about how much money you’re going to make from gamers.

    77% of Comsore’s survey respondents said they play games on multiple platforms. More than a third said they play games on consoles, PCs and mobile devices. So no, you can’t blame all this on mobile gamers.

    as pointed out Game Industry Network, eSports is becoming increasingly popular among Generation Z and Millennials. More than 85% of Gen Z and 80% of Millennials say they watch esports. At the same time, U.S. gamers will play approximately 45 billion hours on video game websites and apps in 2023.

    Steve Bagdasarian, chief commercial officer at Comscore, said: “Our 2024 State of Gaming report highlights the cultural significance of gaming and the critical role of gamer behavior for brands looking to reach active and engaged audiences.
