friend world There have been several updates since its launch earlier this year, but the biggest one is the Sakurajima update on June 27, 2024. In addition to a ton of new endgame content and updated mechanics, the focus is on the eponymous island that makes up the game’s newest area. But what do you do when you arrive?
Here are all the main activities and quests to tackle in Sakurajima. We’ll even tell you how to capture Selena!
Meet some new friends!
It’s no surprise that one of the best things to do here is catching more friends. Sakurajima update adds 14 new partners and 10 new subspecies versions. Although some of them can be encountered in other areas of the world map or only in certain situations, almost all of them have a home in Sakurajima itself. Exploring the island is a great way to fill out your Paldex and discover some new unpaid workers – uh, I mean friends.
Challenge new alpha partners
Again, I recommend trying the newly launched Alpha Mate. Outside of dungeons, you have the option of level 54 Menasting Terra and level 55 Knocklem. In addition to being a fun challenge and a great way to earn some rewards, each will be a welcome asset to your highest-level team. They are both powerful Ground-type allies that can help fight Electric-types.
Challenge the latest faction leader Saya
Another challenging reminder about increasing the level cap is new tower boss. Saya is the leader of the Moonflower Faction and lives in the Moonflower Tower in the center of the island. Her friend Selina is by far the strongest tower boss at level 55, which means you should expect a tough fight.

In addition to getting some nice rewards and bragging rights, defeating these two (as well as other bosses) will unlock all of their Hardmode versions. Defeating Saya and Selyne is just the first step to challenging the hardest content friend world.
Capture Selina (if you’re lucky)
After fighting Selena in Moonflower Tower, you’ll naturally want to have your own. Unfortunately, finding one is a task in itself, as it requires very specific circumstances. Here are the important factors you need to know:
- Selyne will only spawn during the newly added Meteor event. You can only capture them during meteorite events Specificallyrather than concentrating supply decline events under the same category. It all depends on which event the game decides to offer you.
- The event needs to be triggered for you in the Sakurajima area. In any other location, you’ll find some exotic warriors, and if you’re lucky, maybe an alien warrior. Selyne will only spawn for you if the event occurs on a new island.
- These events operate on timers. The community estimates that they typically occur once every three hours of playtime. It doesn’t depend on the length of the in-game day, but should trigger approximately every three real-time hours.
All this means is that you need to be at the right place and time and hope that the odds are in your favour. Once a meteor/supply drop occurs, set a timer or make a mental note of the time. Nearly three hours later, head to Sakurajima to pray for a meteorite. Once the stars align and you do see one, make sure you take care of any Syndicate members or nearby hostile companions. You don’t want to lose your chance to have Selina because of some angry NPC.
High value waste pile on farm
The scrap pile added in the Sakurajima update is a great source of loot. Players can rummage through the treasure chests to find some decent loot. These are not limited to any location and can be found throughout the map.

That being said, the quality of the loot does seem to vary by location. For example, scrap piles are often better in areas with strong enemies. From Dogecoin (you need to open more Accessory slot) to expensive ammo and even legendary orbs, all of the best loot I’ve received from these piles is in Sakurajima.

One of the many system updates included in the Sakurajima update is the addition of the new Lifmunk statue. Adapting to these are two more enhancement opportunities that can improve your capture rate in Statues of Power. Considering how difficult it is to capture friends as you approach the new level cap, finding these companions will be a huge help. All added Livemonk statues are scattered throughout Sakurajima’s hideaways, so I recommend checking every giant mushroom and cliffside more thoroughly.
Walk through the Sakuradong Dungeon
every major biome friend world There are themed dungeons to match. The Sakurajima area is no exception, as it has the unique Sakura Cave Underground City. In addition to standing out with its mixed Japanese-style decoration, you can also fight the latest Alpha version of Friends.

The rewards also make it worth your time. Rare accessories and schematics can be found from defeated Alpha Bosses and from treasure chests at the end of dungeons. People who are interested in the challenge New raid boss Will also want to run these dungeons as this seems to be the only place to find Blazamut Ryu plate fragments so far.
Establish a crude oil base
The Sakurajima update adds five technology levels, which include new weapons and armor. The basic building blocks of these are new crude oil materials. Not only do these require expensive crude oil extractors (which are quite power-hungry in their own right), but they are almost impossible to find in any of the previous locations.
Sakurajima, on the other hand, has rich oil mining areas. There are plenty of places to drop a couple of extractors (and a large generator) and wait for the oil to start accumulating. I propose establishing a base on the island for this important resource. If you craft the best gear possible, all end-game content, whether it’s Oil Rig Fortress or some of the tough challenges I mentioned above, will be easier to manage.
