The goal is to have fun, so choose the difficulty that works best for you
Vision of Mana Four difficulties are available, and you should definitely choose the one that gives you the level of challenge you need, as having fun should be your top priority. Beginner difficulty is designed for those who just want to experience the story without worrying about combat. Easy, Medium, and Hard all raise the bar for the experience, and for most seasoned role-playing fans, Medium is probably the best option.
Keep in mind that all trophies or achievements can be unlocked on any difficulty, and you can rest assured that even on Easy or Medium difficulty, you’ll encounter battles that will definitely require some extra strategy or level grinding to overcome. Additionally, you can change the set difficulty at any time during your adventure if you start to feel that your chosen difficulty is too easy or too difficult.
Yes, all yellow items are worth buying
You’ll see glowing yellow item pickups in every area you enter, which can feel a little overwhelming. It can be a little tedious at times, but if you’re wondering if all of these items are worth buying, the answer is clear Yes. Pick them up. Pick them all up.
While sometimes you’ll only get a little money out of it, you’ll also often get useful healing items that can make a meaningful difference in tougher fights. But most importantly, these locations often provide you with Golden Clovers, which are extremely important items for upgrading your character and making them more powerful in battle. These colored crystals will be useful later in the game
As you pass through each area, you will undoubtedly notice small crystals of various colors that appear to serve no purpose. Don’t worry, as you unlock new elemental containers, these will become available and provide you with elemental points that can be used to upgrade your elemental plot. Unfortunately, this means you’ll need to backtrack throughout the game to areas with crystals that match your newly unlocked elemental containers to get as many elemental points as possible.
Collect all the grizzly syrup you can find
Early in the game, you’ll discover that Grizzly Syrup is, well, everywhere In the area you are exploring. This syrup can be traded in the Dudbear Shop – the first of which will be unlocked a few hours into the story – and is well worth your time to collect. Dudbears often sell very useful items, including the Elixir, which permanently increases the stats of whichever character you give it to.
The first Dudbear Shop offers a selection of these potions (up to three of each!), so finding each Grizzly Bear Syrup in the open area can help you quickly power up some early game characters. Stat boosts may not look like much on paper, but they certainly provide a slight advantage in combat.
Convert your golden clover into elemental points
Unlocking the full elemental story tier for each character can require a large number of elemental points. If you have certain unlocks you want to score, you can convert the golden clovers you find into elemental points for extra chances to expand elemental tiles. See, didn’t I tell you how important it was to pick up all those yellow items?
Save your healing items by breaking jars
If you’ve picked up every item in the overworld (do you see a pattern here?), you’ll have a ton of healing items on your hands within the first few hours of the game. Even so, there’s no need to use them if you don’t absolutely have to – especially on higher difficulties – so keep an eye out for the canisters scattered around each area.
Breaking these jars will often provide quick healing, allowing you to prepare for the upcoming battle without having to deplete your restorative stock. You’ll even often find them in boss arenas, helping you stay active while rejuvenating.
Beware of advanced enemies in the novice area
As you explore some of the game’s initial areas, you’ll stumble upon ruins that you can explore to obtain things like treasure chests, Grizzly Syrup, or yellow item points. However, you may notice that some of these areas have hordes of level 50+ enemies surrounding them. You’ll be able to come back and fight these guys later in the game, but for now, keep an eye out for them so you can stay on the periphery of the ruins to avoid triggering a fight you’re not ready for.
