Current goals: Bringing some gaming surprises this season
Halloween is on a Thursday this year and I was so busy with work and other things that I didn’t take much time to play horror games in the days leading up to Halloween. However, I’m still craving some interactive horror, so this weekend I’m hoping to play one of the landmark games in survival horror history that’s been officially translated into English and released in the U.S. for the first time: bell tower. new version, Bell Tower: Rewindbrought to us by WayForward, represents my first real opportunity to play the 1995 SNES horror classic.
Actually I don’t know much about the original work bell towerI kept it this way on purpose because I wanted to know as little as possible and figure it out myself. That’s scarier. In a nutshell, it’s a 2D survival horror point-and-click game that tells the story of teenage orphan Jennifer, who is adopted by a family that owns a large, eerie manor and finds herself being stalked by a terrifying entity called Scissorman. The release of WayForward lets you play an enhanced version of the game “with a ton of gameplay additions and quality of life improvements” I’ll probably check that out as well, but for starters I’ll be playing the game in original mode and experiencing This game is just like it was in 1995 when it surprised many Japanese gamers. —Caroline Pettit
