This year’s Lunar New Year marks the Year of the Snake, so this year we don’t get one, but two forms of expression in action characters, which seems appropriate! For those who didn’t rush home every weekday morning without the 80s GI JoeCold Slither is a hair-style metal band composed of the Dreadnok mercenary group affiliated to Cobra.
Earlier this week, Hasbro announced the exclusive four-pack action characters from San Diego Comic Con. These numbers are in the GI Joe category series. You get Zartan’s lead singer and guitar, buzzer on drums, torches on bass and ripper on keys. Accessories include a complete drum set with band logo, flying V guitar, bass and keytar. Guitars even include removable belts to better equip your band. SDCC ’25 will be unique, and there are limited collections available after the Hasbro Pulse conference.
Despite being in the confidential series, Hasbro has been retro-designed as these action characters, staying true to the cartoon while providing the level of detail you expect from Gi Joe: classification. A simulated UPS has been provided, but unfortunately, when we visited during the Toy Fair, Hasbro did not show off their cold skates at their booth.
But this is not all the cold slippery we had in the snake year. Super7 exhibits a cold slither Zartan at their toy show booth, which they show in their new GI Joe Recess+ Line. While the Gi Joe reaction numbers and their 5-point pronunciation have been around for years, the Reaction + Number is more similar to the classic Gi Joe characters from the 1980s and has more pronunciation and an O-ring that connects the torso and hips. The Zartan comes with a guitar and microphone and is packaged in classic solitaire. If we see the rest of the cold skates in the form of a reaction + I won’t be able to get anyone confirmation from Super7 at the Toy Show. But if Zartan sells well, hope we will! Zartan will be released this summer.
