    19 New Conference Venues in the South of the United States

    According to the latest U.S. construction pipeline trend report on accommodation econometrics, three fastest hotel development cities are in the South: Dallas: Dallas has 204 projects (23,669 rooms), Atlanta, 168 projects (19,431 rooms) (19,431 rooms), Nashville, 130 (17,029 rooms) (17,029 rooms)

    The venue types built and renovated range from the Convention Center (Browder County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Savannah Convention Center in Savannah, Georgia) to the Game Property (Caesar Virginia in Danville, Virginia, Caesar Virginia, Virginia, Coastal Convention Center, Fontainebleau Beach and Live!casino & Live!casino & Live!casine & Live!casine & Hotel in Shrepeport, LA). Luxury entries abound, including chains such as Salamander, JW Marriott, Fairmont and Lemeridien.

    1. Caesar Virginia

    Danville, Virginia

    Caesars Virginia has a 320-room hotel with over 50,000 square feet of meeting and meeting space. The property’s main banquet hall has a size of 29,150 square feet and can accommodate 2,500 theater-style attendees. It can be divided into up to eight rooms, with a small conference room, three front functional areas and a terrace. This newly built $650 million resort and casino offers a wide range of dining options, a full-service spa, pool and shopping experience.

    2. Coastal Convention Center in Fontainebleau, Miami Beach

    Miami, Florida

    Opened in December 2024, the Coastal Convention Center in Miami Beach offers 45,000 square feet of event space, including a 16,500 square feet ballroom with a capacity of up to 1,380 theater-style. The venue also offers a 9,500-square-foot junior high school banquet hall and a 7,000-square-foot rooftop deck. The interconnected Fontainebleau Miami Beach offers 1,504 rooms, 200,000 square feet of event space, 10 dining options, a swimming pool, wellness amenities and a wide range of entertainment options.

    3. DelanoMiami Beach (renovation)

    Miami, Florida

    After a massive renovation, Miami Beach will reopen by the end of 2025. It will feature 171 rooms and many dining and retail options. Additional amenities include a wellness studio and spa, ground pool, new seafront deck and an additional pool on the fourth floor. Although no specific details have been disclosed, the renovation will include exclusive areas for conferences and events.

    4. Fairmont, New Orleans

    New Orleans, Los Angeles

    Fairmont New Orleans opened in the summer of 2025 as a redevelopment of the 1010 Common Street building, the former New Orleans Bank building, returns to New Orleans. The 250-room hotel will feature 20,000 square feet of event space including a banquet hall, conference rooms, a library and a business center. The hotel will offer three food and beverage options, a 10,000-square-foot spa, a rooftop bar, and a Speakeasy pool overlooking the city.

    5. Intercontinental San Antonio River

    San Antonio, Texas

    The InterContinental San Antonio Riverwalk is a central luxury hotel located in Henry B., a 390-room hotel with over 18,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including 8,200 square feet of banquet hall and 10 meeting rooms. Other facilities include four on-site dining options, a rooftop pool, lounge and direct access to the water taxi landing area

    6. JW Marriott Hotel at Reston Station

    Reston, go

    The JW Marriott Hotel at Reston Station is scheduled to open in mid-2025 and is the brand’s first property in Virginia. The 243-room hotel, 25-storey, will have 35,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including a large banquet hall with outdoor balcony. The hotel will also offer a fitness center, garage parking with 24/7 valet service, and a JW executive club with a private outdoor terrace and board.

    7. Meridian Washington, DC, Madison (renovation)

    Washington, DC

    The historic hotel in Washington, Madison, is now Lemerian Washington, D.C. in Madison. After a $15 million redesign, it reopened in September 2024. One of the unique features of the 356 rooms is its proximity to the White House and the National Mall. The conference space includes a banquet hall with a capacity of 500 in reception or 300-seat theater style and a total of 16 separate event spaces. Conveniences include three dining options and a fitness center

    8. live! Casinos and Louisiana Hotels

    Shreveport-Bossier,

    live! Louisiana’s Casinos & Hotels are Shreveport – Director of the $270 million resort and casino. The 549-room property features 25,000 square feet of customizable event space including performance stages, banquet halls, multiple breakthrough rooms, feature front space and executive board. The resort also offers over 47,000 square feet of gaming space, a swimming pool, a fitness center, live entertainment and nightlife, as well as many dining options.

    9. Margaritaville Hotel Kansas City

    Kansas City, Kansas

    The Margaritaville Hotel is scheduled to open in spring 2025, and Kansas City is a $150 million project located in western Wanwent County. The 229-room resort will feature 13,000 square feet of event space in eight rooms with an adaptable layout, the largest of which can accommodate 380 guests. The property will offer Margaritavill Einspired’s restaurant and bar, indoor and outdoor pools, a fitness center and a rock climbing wall.

    10. Okana Resort and Indoor Waterpark

    Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

    Okana Resort & Indoror Waterpark is a newly opened 404-room resort in Oklahoma City. The event space includes two banquet rooms that can accommodate 780 guests and 547 theater-style guests. The 1,500-seat amphitheater and an event lawn complements four breakthrough rooms and two smaller boards. The main feature of the resort is its 100,000 square foot indoor water park. It also offers 13 different restaurants, a spa and fitness center.

    11. Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel

    Fort Lauderdale, Florida

    The Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel will open in late fall 2025 and is directly connected to the Broward County Convention Center. It will offer over 120,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, including a banquet room, feature front area and smaller meeting rooms. The hotel has six dining options, a rooftop lounge, pool deck and spa. It is perfect for planners who need to use over 1.2 million square feet of live conference space in adjacent conference centers.

    12. opal

    Clearwater, Florida

    Opened in February 2025, Opal Sol has 248 rooms and 57,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, including an 8,800 square feet banquet hall that can accommodate 950 theater styles. Three outdoor spaces complement 10 event spaces. Next door, connected via Skybridge, the older Opal Sands offers 230 rooms and over 49,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor activity space. There are 10 dining options between the two properties offered by all guests.

    13. Palmetto Marriott Resort & Spa

    Palmetto, Florida

    Palmetto Marriott Resort & Spa, a 252-room hotel that opened last summer, offers 9,000 square feet of indoor event space, including a banquet hall that can accommodate 936 theater-style guests. The property is also linked to the 40,000-square-foot Bradenton Convention Center, which is currently underway for a $50 million renovation project, scheduled to be completed in 2026. The property features two pools, a spa, a spa, a fitness center, beach volleyball and pickle courts and five dining options.

    14. SalamanderWashington, DC (renovation)

    Washington, DC

    Located in the central Salamander Washington DC, the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Pier Restaurants and Entertainment, within walking distance of the National Mall. This newly renovated property offers 373 rooms with views of the monument, a new two-story spa, a renovated club lounge and 36,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor event space including two banquet halls, garden rooms and a large lawn.

    15. Kimpton Hotel Santo

    San Antonio, Texas

    The Santo Kimpton Hotel opened in downtown San Antonio in the summer of 2024. The 347-room property is within walking distance of the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center and the San Antonio River Trail. It offers 13,000 square feet of event space, including two separate banquet halls, the largest of which can accommodate nearly 600 theater-style guests as well as five meeting rooms. The hotel offers a restaurant, a bar and a rooftop pool and lounge.

    16. Savannah Convention Center (Extended)

    Savannah, GA

    Located across the river in downtown Savannah, the Savannah Convention Center recently announced its $276 million expansion, doubled the exhibition space to 200,000 square feet and added a new 40,000 square feet ballroom with riverside views. The total activity space on the venue doubled, bringing it to 660,000 square feet. Other enhancements include a 58-foot wide hangar door for oversized exhibits, floor-to-ceiling glass facades, and adjacent ferries to the historic downtown area.

    17. Cooper

    Charleston, South Carolina

    Opened in 2025, Cooper is a 196-room Charleston Waterfront adjacent to the Waterfront Park. It offers 20,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, including a grand banquet hall and conference area. The design reflects the city’s French quarterly aesthetics. Amenities include a full-service spa, fitness center, rooftop infinity pool, five restaurants, and access to a private marina with multiple yachts, providing planners with flexible options for reliable meetings and social events.

    Sarasota, Florida

    St. Regis Longboat Key Resort is located on the barrier island of Sarasota, spanning 18 acres. Opened in August 2024, the resort features 168 rooms and 31,320 square feet of event space, including a banquet hall that can accommodate 600 guests. It offers 800 feet of private beach access, six dining options, a 20,000 square foot spa, and a lagoon showing off the tropical aquatic environment. Guests can also enjoy the service of a dedicated pool butler who is ready to help in the water.

    19. Disney World Swans and Dolphins (Extended)

    Orlando, Florida

    In 2024, Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin announced a $275 million expansion project that will bring the total convergence space (Swan, Dolphin and Swan Reserve) between its three buildings to 469,000 square feet, including more than 349,000 square feet of indoor event space. In addition to its 2,619 rooms, the property offers 99 meeting rooms (including 6 banquet rooms), 110,500 square feet of continuous exhibition space and multiple outdoor functional areas.
