There are a lot of evil characters out there.

You know those. Those who take pleasure in the flow of evil in their souls will not apologize for it.

Some of the best characters of all time are multi-layered villains that we’ve loved to hate over the years.

But some characters are just more evil than others.

Here are some of the most nefarious acts.

    Armand “Interview with the Vampire”

    (Larry Horricks/AMC)

He uses up his last bit of compassion and empathy, and what else could you get in the season finale.

RELATED: Interview with the Vampire Season 2 Episode 8 Review: That’s the End. nothing else

He’s always been paranoid (especially if, like Daniel, you’d never forgive him for lying about being Rasheed), but the true depth of his evil revealed at the end of the season makes him unforgivable – even for a vampire The same is true for you!

He’s just that bad. Super hot, but bad.

    James Ulster, Will Trent

us real Hopefully he was just kidding Will Trent and wasn’t actually his biological father.

Ulster is a serial killer who keeps giving: he almost killed Angie, and even in prison, he managed to turn a jailbreak into a power grab.

Worst of all, he continues to play with Will’s emotions and desire for family.

    Princess Mary, Lady Jane

    Kate O'Flynn (Princess Mary)Kate O'Flynn (Princess Mary)
    (Prime Minister Jonathan/Prime Minister Video)

In this Tudor-era fantasy, King Edward’s sister believes the throne is hers when Edward is reported dead, but the throne is thwarted when his will names his cousin Lady Jane as the rightful heir.

Mary (with the help of her evil accomplice/lover Lord Seymour) rises to astonishing heights of evil as she plots to rid England of Jane and all Ithians (shapeshifters).

Her methods are indeed evil and cruel, which is a jarring note in this otherwise gentle fantasy world.

    (Steve Swisher/NBC)

Even though Mark-Paul Gosselaar plays him and he has a charisma, Jazz is a true monster because of what he did to Gabi and Lacey.

As the heartbreaking season finale made clear, things aren’t over yet; he’s selfish and cruel enough to eliminate anyone who comes between him and Gabi.

While the twists throughout the series may be surprising, Jazz’s horrific nature is to be expected at this point.

    Rosalind Dyer “The Rookie”

Serial Killer - The Rookie Season 2 Episode 10Serial Killer - The Rookie Season 2 Episode 10
    (ABC)

Rosalind may be gone but not forgotten, and she is one of, if not the greatest villains in The Rookie, both for the character and the incredible actress who played her.

RELATED: The Rookie Season 2 Episode 10 Review: The Dark Side

She wreaks utter destruction and is a talented serial killer who takes pride in every kill and enjoys outsmarting and defeating everyone at every turn.

This woman is cold-blooded, but smiling, and she happily makes Nolan and Lucy’s lives a living hell.

    Smokers, The X-Files

    Smoking – The X-FilesSmoking – The X-Files
    (fox)

Sometimes evil doesn’t roar, gibber, or threaten unspeakable violence. Sometimes it just sits in a cloud of Marlboro smoke, silently manipulating the world around you until you can’t fight back.

The writers of The X-Files never even revealed the Cancer Man’s real name, and the mystery surrounding him, like a haze of second-hand carcinogens, made him so terrifying.

Even more frightening is the fact that people like him are operating in every powerful government in the world at this very moment.

    Leland, evil

    Cheers - Evil S04E02 - WerewolfCheers - Evil S04E02 - Werewolf
    (Elizabeth Fisher/Paramount+)

When we think of evil, forensic psychologists and Midwestern insurance adjusters aren’t the first things that come to mind. But if there’s any character in “Wicked” who embodies the show’s title, it’s Dr. Leland Townsend.

This guy is literally working for the devil to bring about the Antichrist. He’s using the eggs of his nemesis to create his own “Rosemary’s Baby” situation. Additionally, he is a master at manipulating other people’s puppets.

RELATED: Wicked Season 4 Episode 8 Review: How to Save a Life

Sometimes the most sinister villains are those who convince others to do bad things for them. Leland masterfully manipulated his naive victims into making Charles Manson look like Charlie Brown.

    cersei lannister, game of thrones

Cersei awaits war - Game of ThronesCersei awaits war - Game of Thrones
    (HBO)

Cersei has repeatedly proven herself to be the most evil of them all in a show that has no shortage of villains.

In the first episode of Game of Thrones, a child was disabled as a result of Cersei’s incest with her brother, and by the end of the season, she (allegedly) spearheaded a plot to murder her husband.

Throughout the series, Cersei suffers tremendously for her crimes—the loss of several children, her infamous disgrace, and so on—but her misfortunes only seem to intensify her cruelty.

    Hannibal, Hannibal

Hannibal looks proud - Hannibal Season 3 Episode 12Hannibal looks proud - Hannibal Season 3 Episode 12
    (NBCUniversal Media)

When you look up “evil” in the dictionary, its definition should be accompanied by a picture of one of Hannibal Lecter’s many screen incarnations.

Fans of the series may never agree on which actor gave the most chilling portrayal of Thomas Harris, the liver-loving psychopath. However, for sheer horror intensity, it’s hard to beat Mads Mixon’s portrayal of Hannibal.

This villain will keep a smile on his face as he tells you what wine he plans to pair with your pancreas. There is nothing scarier than a charismatic sociopath.

    Constance Langdon “American Horror Story”

Jessica Lange as ConstanceJessica Lange as Constance
    (Ray Mixshaw/FX)

Few actresses can project a sinister gaze like Jessica Lange, and few can be more sinister than those who use their religious beliefs to justify their bigotry.

Constance is one of the most disturbing characters on this list, largely because most of us are unfortunate enough to encounter someone like her.

She’s been a villain for years.

    Christopher Pelant, “Bones”

    PeelPeel
    (fox)

No list of villains would be complete without at least one evil tech genius.

As we enter the age of artificial intelligence, deepfakes, and killer drones, it’s becoming increasingly clear that the most nefarious acts of the future will be carried out not with knives and guns, but with code.

Not even house arrest could stop Christopher Pelant from destroying his enemies. While some of his computer-assisted crimes may have seemed strange when he first debuted in 2011’s Bones, today, they all feel all too reasonable.

    Elias Voight, “Criminal Minds: Evolution”

Elias Voit Outside - Criminal Minds S17E04 Kingdom of the Blind - Criminal Minds: EvolutionElias Voit Outside - Criminal Minds S17E04 Kingdom of the Blind - Criminal Minds: Evolution
    (Michael Yarish/Paramount+)

The BAU pursues a criminal mastermind named Sicarius in the first season of Criminal Minds: Evolution. They believe the man behind Sicarius is serial murderer Elias Voight.

The BAU captured him in season one, and he returns in season two to help uncover the secrets behind the new threat Venus. Voight nearly killed FBI agent Rossi in season one, causing Rossi to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder in season two.

Rosie and the rest of the team must remain vigilant as they deal with an evil reincarnation that leads them to futile efforts and ridicules their every move.

    Fatherland, boys

    Homelander at God U - Gen V Season 1 Episode 8
    (High quality video (screenshot))

Homelander is the definition of supervillain.

He’s selfish, fierce, ruthless, and sadistic, and as the leader of an Avengers-level team of superheroes, that makes him the most terrifying person in the Boys universe.

RELATED: The Boys Season 4 Episode 7: The Inside Story

Homelanders are uniquely evil and will use their powers to commit truly horrific acts if given the chance. He cemented himself as one of the greatest television villains of all time.

Klaus, “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Originals”

    Klaus stares—originalKlaus stares—original
    (CW)

There have been many, many bad guys throughout the course of The Vampire Diaries, and Klaus is one of the worst.

In hindsight, there were many times when Klaus showed his humanity, but there were also many times when he showed no mercy, often with a smile on his face.

Klaus may be a fan favorite, but you can’t deny that this ancient vampire gets evil when he wants to.
